AER is a surreal adventure game in an open world developed by Swedish studio Forgotten Key.

The player plays the role of a pilgrim girl named Auk, who will explore the floating islands in the sky. The heroine has the ability to turn into a bird, so you won’t have to walk around the expanses on foot – you can immediately rush into the air.

It is noteworthy that many of the inhabitants of this world are also able to change their shape. And not all of them are favorably disposed towards the girl.

However, the goal of Auk is to find some kind of Memory of the Past, able to protect the world from impending darkness.

Daedalic Entertainment and the Swedish studio Forgotten Key announced the AER, a mystical adventure with a third person gameplay. The game is centered on the exploration and study of the world, it tells the story of a pilgrim Auk (Auk, the name can be translated as “loon”), wandering in a quaint country located on the islands floating in the air.

It will be possible to explore the world not only through trampling the dusty roads, but also through the air. Auk has a rare gift in their territories: she can turn into a bird, which, as you know, greatly expands the possibilities for travel. Much of the gameplay will be tied to the study of the game world, both on foot and with a bird’s-eye view.

Feathered girl sojourns for a reason, she is busy searching for the Memory of the Past, which should help to protect the world from impending darkness. During her travel, Auk will meet other people, who can take the form of animals, visit the ruins of the temples, where people used to worship the old gods, and come face to face with very dark creatures.

AER is created for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC, and it is scheduled for the end of 2016.
