William Friedkin will shoot the series “Live and Die in LA” based on his own 1985 movie of the same name. He works on the project, which will be shown by channel WGN America, together with director Robert Moresco, the owner of “Oscar” for the drama “Crash”.
As with the original picture, the new series based on the book by Gerald Petievich (before writing the novels, he was an agent of the US Secret Service). In the centre of the plot will be a character, who was played by William Peterson in the movie of 1985: Secret Service agent looking for a villain, a counterfeiter who killed his partner. According to the authors, the series will not only tell about the game of “cat and mouse” good (as adjusted for noir) and the bad guys, but also, to some extent, is a production drama on the work of the US Secret Service.
Two novels by Petievich became the basis for a Hollywood movie – “Boiling Point” with Wesley Snipes and “Guardian” with Michael Douglas.
Friedkin undertakes to make the director and producer of the series. For him, this is not the first reference to the format of the TV series. To his credit: the episodes in the series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, “The Twilight Zone” and “Tales from the Crypt”.
