MythBusters is an American popular science television program on Discovery Channel. The hosts are special effects experts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, using their skills and experience for experimental verification of various stories, rumors, urban legends, and other creatures of popular culture. Filming is usually held in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Initially, the show was presented to the Discovery Channel by producer Peter Rees from Beyond Television Productions in 2002 under the name of Tall Tales or True. Discovery Channel has given the green light to three special pilot episodes. Hyneman got to the show due to the participation of Rees, who had interviewed Heineman earlier, when he appeared on “Robot Wars”. Savage, who had previously worked with Heinemann on advertising in the “Robot Wars”, was invited to host the show together with Heinemann, as Heineman felt that he is not dynamic enough to host it alone. In 2014, Tory, Carey and Grant left the show. Now, MythBusters are hosted by Jamie and Adam just as in the beginning.
Each of the one-hour episodes of MythBusters is dedicated to two or more urban legends, widespread beliefs or rumors on the Internet. The main myth often requires extensive training and a special range for the test; in addition to it, the show also includes one or two not so troublesome myth in terms of preparation and holding. Some experiments are so complex that the whole hour allotted for the show is dedicated to it.
The show does not any consistent system of episode partitioning for the season. MythBusters does not follow any set calendar schedule of broadcasts, which does not allow breaks in the broadcast to identify the seasons. Official site of the share shares the episodes by the year of the first airing.
At the moment, the release date of the next episode is unknown.
