  • The working title of the film – Vista, which is a reference to the famous phrase “Hasta la vista, baby”.

  • Emilia Clarke became the second actress from the TV series Game of Thrones (2011), playing the role of Sarah Connor. Several years ago, Lena Headey played the role of mother of the savior of mankind in the TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009).

  • Jai Courtney could retire from the cast of the film, because the filming schedule coincides with the production of the sequel to the film Divergent (2014). But the contract was drawn up so that he could play in both films.
  • Initially, the nominee for the role of John Connor was Tom Hardy.
  • Before Jai Courtney got the role in this film, were considered: Boyd Holbrook, Taylor Kitsch, Nicholas Hoult, Wilson Bethel, Sam Reed, Thomas Kokerel and Garrett Hedlund.
  • Besides Emilia Clarke, Brie Larson and Margot Robbie were considered for the role of Sarah Connor.
  • It was decided not to hide the age of Arnold Schwarzenegger using CGI-effects: instead, the writers decided to explain that living tissue, which coveres a T-101 Terminator, can age, and hair of the robot can gray. This idea was suggested to the authors of the film by James Cameron.

  • Robert Patrick turned down an offer to play the liquid metal Terminator T-1000 again, since he doubted that he will cope with the role physically, because of health problems.
